History

As a company Bostik has had a fascinating past, moving from owner to owner and group to group in the US and Europe like Indiana Jones in search of some lost adhesive grail. Our story begins one dark and stormy night in 1892 in Whitechapel, London. A fog looms and out of it strides a dark-suited figure with a maniacal stare, a glint of steel in his hand… oh hang on; we’re not sure that’s the right story. More soon.....

Did you know

If you laid all the packs of Blu-Tack® sold in the UK every year back to back, they would reach from Land’s End to John O’Groats and back.

Sticking things together, modelling, holding small objects, filling small gaps – people use Blu-Tack® in hundreds of different ways. Check some of them out here, or send us your own by clicking boffins [at] blu-tack [dot] co [dot] uk

How Blu-Tack®’s tacky goodness is created

White-coated boffins in labs mix up tubes of stuff while orchestras play dramatic music in the background and when it’s ready the boffins go: Aargh! It’s alive! It’s ALIVE!!!

Then they calm down and put it in packets for you to use and…

No there isn’t a bit missing. The rest is a stirring story of British endeavour. Really. Well, and luck.

How Blu-Tack® was really discovered:

If the real story of the discovery of Blu-Tack® is too strong, too meaty, too - you know, tough! – for you, here’s the even realer story. This one's genuine. Maybe.
